Luxor is a true treasure of ancient civilization and the place where the history of Ancient Egypt comes vividly to life. Nowhere else in the country will you find such an incredible concentration of temples, tombs, and monuments spanning thousands of years. For this reason, Luxor is often called the world’s greatest open-air museum.
Travelers from all over the world come to Luxor to witness its legendary landmarks, feel the atmosphere of ancient myths and legends, and explore monuments that have stood for more than three millennia. In ancient times, Egyptians placed enormous importance on religion and the afterlife, and this philosophy shaped the city’s unique layout.
The sacred Nile River divides Luxor into two symbolic parts:
the East Bank, known as the “City of the Living,” where people lived and worshipped in magnificent temples facing the rising sun;
the West Bank, the “City of the Dead,” where pharaohs, queens, and nobles were laid to rest in richly decorated tombs, built on the side of the setting sun.
Majestic temples, royal tombs, colossal statues, and breathtaking wall reliefs tell stories of powerful pharaohs and ancient gods, preserved through the centuries almost unchanged.
Because of the long distance, the only practical way to reach Luxor from Sharm El Sheikh is by plane, making this excursion the fastest and most comfortable option. A short flight allows you to discover one of Egypt’s most iconic destinations in just one day, without exhausting road transfers — an ideal choice for travelers who want to experience the highlights of Ancient Egypt efficiently and comfortably.

The flight duration to Luxor is approximately 50 minutes.
Upon arrival in Luxor at around 06:30 AM (typical departure from Sharm El Sheikh is around 05:30 AM), you will be met by your local professional guide, who will accompany you throughout the sightseeing program.
Your exploration begins on Luxor’s West Bank, known as the “City of the Dead” — the vast burial complex of ancient Egyptian rulers and nobles.
Here, you will visit the most iconic sites of ancient Thebes, including the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
The Valley of the Kings served as the burial ground for Egypt’s pharaohs during the New Kingdom period. Unlike earlier rulers who built pyramids, the pharaohs of Thebes chose hidden rock-cut tombs carved deep into the desert cliffs to protect their burial chambers from tomb robbers.
This area is considered one of the most magnificent necropolises in the world. Over 63 tombs were officially documented here over nearly 500 years, with several additional discoveries made in recent times.
In 1922, the world-famous archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the intact tomb of Tutankhamun in this valley.
🔔 Important note:
Entrance to the tomb of Tutankhamun is not included in the tour price and costs approximately USD 20–25, payable on site (subject to change).
Next, you will visit the stunning Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built in the early 15th century BC. This unique, multi-terraced temple is one of the architectural masterpieces of ancient Egypt.
Queen Hatshepsut was one of the very few female pharaohs in Egyptian history. After the death of her husband, Thutmose II, she claimed the throne, ruling as pharaoh and even adopting traditional male royal symbols, including the ceremonial false beard, to legitimize her reign.
Her temple stands as a powerful symbol of her authority, ambition, and exceptional role in ancient Egyptian civilization.
After visiting the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, we stop at the Colossi of Memnon — two monumental stone statues rising 18 meters high and weighing over 700 tons each.
These impressive figures depict Pharaoh Amenhotep III seated on his throne and are the only remaining statues from what was once the entrance to his vast mortuary temple.
The name “Memnon” dates back to the Greek period, when visitors associated the statues with the Trojan hero Memnon from Greek mythology. Although this identification was historically incorrect, the name remained and is still used today.
Next, you will cross the Nile River to the East Bank of Luxor, where lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
🍽️ Please note: Drinks are not included in the lunch price and are payable separately.
After lunch, you may choose to visit Banana Island for an additional fee of approximately USD 20–25.
This relaxing stop offers a short boat ride on the Nile and a chance to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of a traditional riverside island.
The final and most impressive stop of the day is the Karnak Temple Complex — the largest religious structure ever built in ancient Egypt and the main state sanctuary of the New Kingdom period.
Karnak is dedicated primarily to Amun-Ra, along with his consort Mut and their son Khonsu. Unlike many other temples, Karnak was not built by a single pharaoh or dynasty — its construction began in the 16th century BC and continued for more than 1,300 years, involving around 30 pharaohs.
The central Temple of Amun-Ra alone covers an area of approximately 30 hectares. Within the complex, you will also see the Sacred Lake and the famous scarab beetle statue, which, according to legend, grants wishes to those who walk around it.
Since 1979, the Karnak Temple has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The sightseeing program in Luxor concludes around 17:00.
In the evening, at approximately 20:00–20:30, you will fly back from Luxor Airport to Sharm El Sheikh (arrival around 21:30, subject to flight schedules).
Your guide will escort you to the airport in Luxor and assist with check-in procedures. Upon arrival in Sharm El Sheikh, another representative will meet you outside the terminal and transfer you back to your hotel.
🌤️ Dear guests, please remember to check the weather forecast before your trip.
During this one-day trip, you will visit both the West Bank archaeological sites in a single day, including:
Valley of the Kings (City of the Dead)
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon
Valley of the Queens
Visit to three royal tombs of the Pharaohs’ wives (standard entrance)
The program also includes a stop of approximately 40 minutes at a local perfume & oils factory, where guests may explore traditional Egyptian oils and souvenirs (optional purchases).
